The children have been practicing their football skills and athletic skills with coaches David and Joan. We are very lucky to have Michelle from 'Music Generation' visit us each week throughout the whole year, to teach us how to play the violin. We have been so lucky to be accepted onto the SPIKE Essential Lego Programme for primary schools. The children will engage in STEAM activities over the next three years to develop their design, coding and programming skills. So far it's been a bit hit! The children have been helping the Infants with their reading during Reading Buddies sessions. Maths Week Fun! We had great fun during Science Week! We had a zoom session with Mark the Science Guy. He showed us how to make mini rockets.
Maths Week 2022We had great fun celebrating Maths Week 2022. We played plenty of Maths games with the Infants and took them on a Maths Trail around the school. We also teamed up with 5th and 6th class for a Maths Trail and a giant table quiz to end the week off. READING BUDDIES We've been enjoying being reading buddies with the Infants. They come to our class twice a week for reading and oral language practice. Music in the Classroom We've been having fun practicing our rhythm on percussion instruments. We joined in the 'Click Song' using African drums, tamborines, shakers and lots of other interesting instruments. Follow the link below to join in too! We had a super time meeting author Marita Conlon McKenna in Navan Library. She told us all about her life, her love for writing and where the inspiration for her very famous novel 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' came from.
So far we have been focusing on the Paint and Colour strand of the curriculum. We have enjoyed linking our art to our History themes. We made stone age cave paintings and some salmon of knowledge paintings.
A big welcome back to school to all the boys and girls in 3rd and 4th Class. I am looking forward to a great year ahead! The children have been enjoying weekly GAA training sessions with coach David.
As part of the 'Fabric and Fibre' strand the children have been practicing their needlework. Famous Women from HistoryThe children have been learning about interesting women in history who have made huge contributions to the world. One woman they learned about was Amelia Earhart. The children created a large mural and wrote reports about her. Catholic School's WeekWe enjoyed celebrating Catholic School's Week. We visited our local church where the children lit candles in appreciation for all the people in their lives who love them and help them to develop their faith.
